As parents and students across Meath begin to gear up for the new school year, a newly launched grinds school in Navan is offering fresh hope for those seeking academic success in the Junior and Leaving Certificate exams. Piece of Pi Ltd, founded by local teacher and education expert Leona Regan, is already making waves for its modern, results-driven approach to teaching and learning.
With over 12 years of experience teaching in Irish secondary schools, Leona saw a growing need for targeted, accessible support to further enhance the work going on inside the classroom. The result is Piece of Pi, a dedicated grinds service based in Navan and North Dublin, designed to help students not just "get through" their exams, but to truly thrive.
“Too often, bright students underperform in exams not because they don’t understand the content, but because they struggle to unpack questions, manage time, or apply their knowledge under pressure,” said Leona. “At Piece of Pi, we focus on building subject knowledge hand-in-hand with exam technique and confidence.”
Meeting Local Needs with High-Quality, Personalised Support
Located in the heart of Navan (Navan Education Centre), Piece of Pi offers small-group classes that combine expert instruction, practical exam strategies, and continuous feedback. Whether students are aiming to boost a pass grade, or secure top marks for college entry, the school provides clear, structured lessons aligned with the State Examinations Commission marking schemes and latest curriculum updates.
Subjects currently offered include:
3rd Year Maths – Higher level
5th Year Maths – Higher level
6th Year Maths – Higher level
Leaving Certificate Chemistry
Local Roots, Proven Results
As a teacher who has worked closely with students from a variety of backgrounds, Leona understands the importance of individual attention and local support.
“There’s a huge amount of talent in Navan and throughout Meath,” she said. “What students could benefit from is someone who knows the system, knows the syllabus, and can show them exactly how to succeed in exams — in a way that makes sense for them.”
Parents have already started to express interest, with early sign-ups for September and inquiries from across the county. The school also has plans to host revision Maths Blitz workshops at Christmas and Easter.
